October fame Banita Sandhu to make Tamil debut with new version of Varmaa

Varmaa, the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy, directed by national award-winning filmmaker Bala, and starring Dhruv Vikram in his debut, was initially scheduled for release in March.

In a sudden turn of events, E4 Entertainment, the film's production house E4 Entertainment, which holds the Tamil remake rights of the original Vijay Deverakonda-starrer, shocked everyone on 7th February by saying that they are not happy with the Bala-directed Varmaa, and will therefore not be releasing it. They went on to reveal that Dhruv will be retained in the new version of the remake, which they would be shooting.

Now, the latest update is that Banita Sandhu, the 21-year-old actor who made her debut with Shoojit Sircar’s October last year, has been roped in as the leading lady for the new version of Varmaa.

The makers took to Twitter to make this announcement.

Bengali actor Megha Choudhary was initially roped in to play the lead role originally played by Shalini Pandey in Arjun Reddy. Now, Varmaa will mark Banita’s Tamil debut. The director of the new version of Varmaa is known yet, but rumours are rife that Gautham Menon will take over reins from Bala. The makers are in the process of finalising the rest of the cast and crew.
