Dev, which is hitting the screens on February 14, is said to be a youthful, breezy, romantic entertainer. Starring Karthi and Rakul Preet, the film is directed by debutant Rajath Ravishanker. The team of the film met the press yesterday in Chennai.

Speaking at the event, Karthi said that the team was particular about the fact that the film shouldn’t have any negative aspects. “This is a love story, but it isn’t just about romance. It speaks about all sorts of relationships and is also about living in the moment,” he added. Karthi also said there was a dearth of breezy films that also have characters with some depth. “Dev is a very positive, mature character -- an adventure freak. While most romcoms end with 'I love you', Dev starts there. It’s about broken families, and about how youngsters approach friendship and love. I usually feel our films don’t portray young characters well, but Dev does. Just like Kadaikutty Singam filled a gap in Kollywood when it comes to rural entertainers, Dev too will complete a certain space.”

Rakul Preet, who plays the female lead, thanked the crew for giving her an important, unique character. “When working with Karthi in Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, I used to tell him that I wanted to work in a full-fledged romantic film. This is when he asked me to listen to a script and I loved it. Rajath doesn't work like a first-timer. He is so passionate and that shows on screen,” she said.

Produced by Prince Pictures, Dev also stars Kallachirippu-fame Amrutha Srinivasan, RJ Vigneshkanth, Ramya Krishnan, and Prakashraj.
