The satirical-thriller film, Kammara Sambhavam, starring Dileep and Siddharth, written by Murali Gopy and directed by Rathish Ambat, has won the award for best production design (art direction) at the National Film Awards.

Vinesh Banglan, the art director of the film, in an exclusive quote to CE, confides that they weren't actually expecting an award as they were competing against some of the biggest films from India such as Padmaavat and KGF. "I'm happy with the recognition. While working on the film, director Rathish Ambatt and team were focused on doing their job well and not winning any awards. I believe that if we do our work sincerely, the recognition will naturally follow," he says.

Vinesh, who had also clinched the best art direction award for Kammara Sambhavan at the Kerala State Film Awards, had recreated authentic set pieces for the period film that was extensively set in pre- and post-independence years.

Kammara Sambhavam is the feature film directorial debut of advertisement filmmaker, Rathish Ambat. The plot follows the adventures of Kammaran, the character played by Dileep. Siddharth, in his Malayalam debut, played the second lead. The film was made on a total budget of 20 crores.
