Pavail Gulati to star opposite Taapsee Pannu in Thappad

Pavail Gulati will star opposite Taapsee Pannu in Thappad. The announcement was made by director Anubhav Sinha on Saturday. Thappad is a socially-relevant film scheduled to release on March 6, 2020 during the Women's Day weekend. Pavail was previously seen in the films Hide and Seek, Ittefaq and Kalank. He also acted in Zoya Akhtar's Amazon Prime show Made in Heaven and the Amitabh Bachchan-led television series Yudh.

Speaking about the actor, Anubhav said, "I was blown by his audition. I have shot with him for four days now and I must say he is an actor to watch out for next year. This is probably the first time I finalised an actor in a lead part without even having met him and I am happy I did."

Anubhav and Taapsee have previously collaborated on Mulk (2018). Anubhav recently directed Article 15, a social thriller fronted by Ayushmann Khurrana. Taapsee's upcoming release is Saandh Ki Aankh, co-starring Bhumi Pednekar and Vineet Kumar Singh.
