Deepak Maduvanahalli: I hope Kalbettada Darode Koraru satisfies Anant Nag sir

Director Deepak Maduvanahalli, who debuted with Bhagyaraj, is making a film based on a novel written by Anush A Shetty. The film, titled Kalbettada Darode Koraru, sheds light on a village called Hangod and the daily struggles of its inhabitants. With the village’s mainstay being tobacco, the villagers have to deal with thieves who always try to outsmart them.

Born in Maduvanahalli, Deepak lived there for 25 years and according to him, his strong roots and understanding of the villagers' lifestyles helped him helm a subject like this. "I was in search of good content, and this novel got my attention."

The director, through this film, is hoping to please senior actor Anant Nag too. "Coincidentally, he had read the book too and loved it. I was told that he had evinced interest in watching the film on the silver screen. In addition to a positive audience reaction, I am keenly awaiting Anant sir’s reaction too."

Made under Bridge Films, Kalbettada Darode Koraru has screenplay and dialogues written by the director himself, along with Jagadish Nadanalli. With Nataraj of Rama Rama Re fame playing the lead, this film features Shwetha Prasad, who has become a household name with the serial, Radha Ramana, in her debut as a heroine. The rest of the cast includes Hemanth Sushil, Sundar Veena, Sringeri Ramanna and Radhika Bharadwaj. The makers have brought in three cinematographers — Kiran Hampapura, Lavith and Pradeep Padmakumar — for this film.

According to Deepak, another interesting aspect to this film is Anoop Seelin’s music. "He has composed three songs. But over and above that, it is the theme song which plays during the climax that is sure to give the audience goosebumps."

The director is cautiously optimistic ahead of his film's release this week. "There’s a saying that usually film directors can’t satisfy the author’s and readers’ expectations. However, I hope that this film doesn’t disappoint either of the two."
