Sanjay Dutt to return to politics after ten years

Actor Sanjay Dutt is set to re-enter politics by campaigning for the Rashtriya Samaj Paksh (RSP) in the forthcoming Maharashtra assembly polls. The announcement was made by Cabinet Minister Mahadev Jankar on Sunday. The RSP is a junior ally of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra.

In 2009, Sanjay had agreed to contest elections as a candidate for the UP-based Samajwadi Party. The actor, however, withdrew his candidature after the Supreme Court refused to suspend his conviction. Sanjay’s father, late actor Sunil Dutt, was a Member of Parliament for the Indian National Congress.

Incidentally, Sanjay portrays a politician in his upcoming release, Prasthanam. Directed by Deva Katta, the film is a remake of the 2010 Telugu film of the same name. Sanjay will also be seen in the upcoming films Sadak 2, Shamshera, Torbaaz, Panipat, and Bhuj: The Pride of India. Sanjay recently ventured into Marathi cinema with his home production Baba
