Rakul Preet has joined the cast of Milap Milan Zaveri’s upcoming directorial, Marjaavaan. The film also stars Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, and Tara Sutaria.

Rakul and Sidharth were last paired together in Neeraj Pandey's Aiyaary. Speaking about reuniting with the actor, Rakul says, “Sid is a friend and I know he has been wanting to do something different, commercial and massy for a while. This is that film! I have already told him I liked both the script and his look pictures.”

She adds, “You have never seen me in a character like this before. I am very excited. I have known Milap for a while and had met him while shooting for De De Pyaar De. We met for the narration of Marjaavaan recently, and I instantly fell in love with this strong-willed character.”

Excited to have the talented actor on board, Milap Zaveri says, “Rakul is one of the most talented actresses of her generation. No wonder she is the reigning queen in the South. I needed someone beautiful and powerful for the role and she was the perfect choice. So excited to have her on board!”

Rakul recently wrapped up her upcoming Bollywood film, De De Pyaar De, in which she stars opposite Ajay Devgn. The romantic comedy is directed by Akiv Ali and produced by Luv Ranjan.

Marjaavaan will be co-produced by Nikkhil Advani and Bhusan Kumar. In the film, Sidharth and Riteish will be reuniting four years after the success of their thriller film, Ek Villain. Meanwhile, Tara Sutaria will be making her Bollywood debut opposite Tiger Shroff in Student of the Year 2

Marjaavaan is expected to be released on October 2, 2019.
