The sequel to the cult hit Aadu starring Jayasurya is now available for viewing on Netflix. Directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas and produced by Vijay Babu, Aadu 2 is a rare example of a sequel that got made owing to public demand.

The first part was a massive flop upon initial release, but has now gained a considerable following since its release on DVD.

Both Aadu and Aadu 2 focus on the misadventures of a group of oddball characters led by Jayasurya's Shaji Pappan. Shaji Pappan is arguably Jayasurya's most popular character and was a big hit with Aadu fans. Another popular character from the film is Dude, an eccentric gangster played by Vinayakan. Dude makes a comeback in Aadu 2 as well.

Vijay Babu plays the role of a cop named Sarbath Shameer. A sequel titled Aadu 3 has been announced with an aim to release it in December 2019. It will be in 3D.

The film's director-producer duo is also working on the sequel to the hit Mammootty-film Kottayam Kunjachan, which released 20 years ago.
