After Sivaji Ganesan's Karnan, MGR's Rickshawkaran and Rajinikanth's Baasha, Kamal Haasan's 1985 super-hit film Kaakki Sattai is to be digitally restored and released in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and overseas in March. This isn't the first time for a Kamal film as his previous hits such as Vetri Vizha and Meendum Kokila were also digitally remastered and re-released.
Kaakki Sattai will now have 5.1 DTS surround sound which, it is said, will make the cop film 'racier'. Film distributor ‘Darwin Movies’ Deva is behind this initiative. Incidentally, the same company also restored Meendum Kokila.
Directed by Rajasekhar and produced by Sathya Movies, the film also stars Ambika, Madhavi and Sathyaraj. Ilayaraaja composed the music for this film which was also later loosely remade in Hindi as Guru, starring Mithun Chakraborty and Sridevi.
