Confirmed: Anirudh to compose music for Kamal Haasan-Shankar's Indian 2

On the occasion of Kamal Haasan's birthday (November 7), it was officially confirmed that the sequel to Shankar's Indian (1996) will be produced by Lyca Productions, and will go on floors in December. Soon enough, Kajal Aggarwal, who was rumoured to be part of the project, went on record that she will indeed be playing the female lead in the mammoth project. The actor also reportedly visited the US to get her look test done for the film.

Now, amidst widespread rumours that Anirudh Ravichander will be composing the music for this sequel, the composer, who is riding high on the success of his recently-released album for Rajinikanth's Petta, has confirmed that he is indeed a part of Indian 2's technical crew, in an interview to a radio channel. He also revealed that he is on board for a big-budget Telugu film which will start rolling soon.

With Anirudh officially on board for Indian 2, he becomes only the fifth music director after Ilaiyaraaja, AR Rahman, Deva, and Vidyasagar to have composed for the top four reigning stars of Tamil Cinema, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, and Ajith Kumar.

We hear that Shankar is planning to wrap up the shoot of Indian 2 before April 2019, so as to give Kamal Haasan enough time for his political commitments. While Nedumuni Venu has been confirmed to reprise his role from the original, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn are rumoured to be in consideration to play the antagonist.
