The last lead role of Rishi Rithvik, recently seen as the antagonist in the children's film, Ezhumin, was in the film, Attu. The actor is back with yet another interestingly titled film - Marijuana. The film is helmed by first-time director Anand, who has previously worked as a writing assistant for the films, Vaigai Express and Savarikaadu. Speaking to us, the director says, "The film's title is the english word for ganja. Drugs are a widespread menace amongst school and college students, and have also found their way into working women's hostels. We want to talk about this in our film, which is a result of nine years of research. It will be a commercially-viable crime thriller."
Also starring Asha Parthalom, the film has cinematography by Bala Rosaiah, assistant to cinematographer-actor Natty, while the music is by another debutant Karthick Guru. One song has been completed and it is written by lyricist Kadal Venthan, who has previously penned lyrics for the films Hara Hara Mahadevaki and Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuthu, though Anand assures us the lyrics in this film will not be anything like the ones in those films.
