Comedian, lyricist and screenwriter Varun Grover is the latest celebrity to face sexual harassment allegations in the wake of the spreading #MeToo movement in India over the last two weeks. In anonymous messages shared via a Twitter user, a victim has alleged that Varun tried to sexual exploit her on the pretext of a dramatics rehearsal at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 2001.
Denying the allegations, Varun responded on Twitter saying:
So far, filmmaker Vikas Bahl, actors Nana Patekar and Alok Nath, comedians Utsav Chakraborty, Jeeveshu Ahluwalia, Tanmay Bhat and Gursimran Khamba, and producer Gaurang Doshi have been accused of varying degrees of sexual or mental harassment from Bollywood.
