Rajinikanth's Muthu to be re-released in Japan

Rajinikanth-starrer Muthu, released in 1995, went on to become a huge hit in South India. The film was later released in Japan as  Muthu: Odoru Maharaja — Dancing Maharaja in 1998 and it was also declared the first non-Hollywood film to become a blockbuster in that country. The film, which fetched a lot of Japanese fans for Rajini, is all set to be re-released digitally in Japan on November 23 in Tokyo. It will be released in a completely digitally enhanced version with  4K video quality and 5.1 surround. Interestingly, Rajinikanth's upcoming mega-budget film, 2.0, will be getting a global release the very next week on November 29.

Muthu, co-starring Meena and Sarath Babu, was helmed by KS Ravikumar and had music by AR Rahman. The film was bankrolled by Kavithalayaa Productions.
