Vikram's highly anticipated mythological epic Mahavir Karna has finally gone on floors. Director RS Vimal shared the news via his Facebook page.
"The day has finally arrived... Mahavir Karna has started... Sharing my immense pleasure on saying 'Action' for the first time to the Great Actor Chiyaan Vikram... Thank God!" he wrote.
The film, which is based on the Mahabharata and told from the point-of-view of Karna, is expected to be released in multiple Indian languages. Details of the rest of the cast and crew are expected to be announced shortly. A team of technicians from both India and abroad have been reportedly assembled for the mega-budget project, which is bankrolled by a New York-based production company, United Film Kingdom.
Vimal made his directorial debut with the critically-acclaimed Prithviraj-starrer Ennu Ninte Moideen. Mahavir Karna, which was initially planned with Prithviraj in the lead, marks Vimal's second directorial.
Meanwhile, Vikram recently finished shooting for Kadaram Kondan, produced by Kamal Haasan.
