The film was originally titled Majnoon Ka Junoon, before it was changed to Anjaam Rekha and Shahrukh Khan were first signed for the film. Madhuri then replaced REkha The opening credits don't appear until 30 minutes into the film. After Darr & Baazigar, Anjaam was the third film of Shahrukh Khan in a negative role. The movie's writing credits go to Sutanu Gupta and Gautam Rajadhyaksha Shahrukh Khan's wife, Gauri Khan, was one of the costume designers in the movie. There is a song picturized on Madhuri Dixit in the movie that was shot in one composite shot. Lyricist Sameer and Anand Milind had composed the song Badi Mushkil Hai Khoya Mera Dil Hai for Dil (1990), but Inder Kumar didn't find the song good and decided not to add it to the film. Four years later in 1994 when Samir and Anand Milind were working together for Anjaam, they decided to add the song to it and it proved to be a hit. The first movie to have Shahrukh and Madhuri as the lead pair. Apache Indian's song ' Chok There' aka ' Chak De' is played in the film. The song appears in a nightclub sequence involving Madhuri and Shahrukh Khan. 'Channe Ke Khet Mein' was remixed in the album BMW 2(Bad Mad Wicked) by DJ Jiten . This was the first-ever remix done for this song. This was in 1994. Rahul Rawail approached Anil Kapoor for the role of Vijay Agnihotri. He declined the role and told Rawail that the film won't work. The song 'Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhien' from the Shahrukh Khan starrer Baazigar (1993) is sung multiple times by Johnny Lever, who also starred in Baazigar. Deepak Tijori was kept out of the film's promotion and it was only Shah Rukh who adorned the film's audio cassettes. Even in the film's trailers, Srk was shown instead of Deepak in the song 'Tu Samna' The producers told the distributors that the film did not have a hero. Shah Rukh was on all the publicity but was the film's villain. Deepak Tijori's role was too small to be considered the hero. Atul Agnihotri was approached for Deepak Tijori's role, but things didn't work out. ' Badi Mushkil Hain' had a cover version in the album Bom Bass. This was the first ever cover version ever done for this song. The remix was done by Amit and San J of the X Zecutive. This was in 1995. Many scenes of Anjaam were shot in Mauritius. Vijayashanti was approached for the film after Rekha, the first choice, opted out. Ravi B's song 'Bread' is a cover version of 'Channe Ke Khet Mein'. The song Tu Samne Jab Aata Hain was later recreated as Tu Hain Kamal in Aap Ki Khatir. Madhuri stated it was the excessive violence in the film that worked against it. She had earlier told Rahul Rawail to edit out the part of her biting Tinnu Anand's hand, but Rahul did not agree.
