Athisaya Remake was a remake of the Telugu film Yamudiki Mogudu (1988).
The film, about a man, who gets killed wrongly and gets sent back to earth from heaven in the body of a lookalike, was written by Panju Arunachalam.
Kanaka and Hindi actress Sheeba Akashdeep (making her debut in Tamil) played the heroines.
While Vinu Chakravarthy played Yamadharma Raja, Cho Ramaswamy and VK Ramasamy portrayed Vichitra Gupta and Chitra Gupta, respectively.
Nagesh and Jaishankar played the villains in the film.
Athisiyapiravi was directed by SP Muthuraman.
Cho's dialogues through out the film were loaded with political innuendo.
The 6 songs in the soundtrack were composed by Ilaiyaraaja.
All 6 songs were sung by Malaysia Vasudevan.
Actress Madhavi made a special appearance in the film.
