Ayushmann Khurrana was born on September 14, 1984, in Chandigarh as as Nishant Khurrana. Later, his parents changed his name to Ayushmann Khurrana when he was 3 years old.
His father P Khurrana is an astrologer and an author on the subject of astrology.His mother, a homemaker, is of Burmese origin. She is also qualified M.A. in Hindi.
Ayushmann's brother Aparshakti Khurana is a radio jockey at Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM in Delhi He made his debut in the 2016 Aamir Khan-starrer film Dangal.
Ayushmann took a decision to become an actor when he was just 4-year-old after watching Madhuri Dixit’s Tezaab(1988)
Ayushmann did his schooling from St. John’s High School, and then chose the science stream and completed his high school from DAV College, Chandigarh.
Ayushmann has showcased his acting chops since his childhood. In high school, he was apparently a part of many school plays.
During his time at the DAV College, he was among the founding members of the two active theatre groups in the college, named ‘Aaghaaz’ and ‘Manchtantra’, which are quite active groups in Chandigarh.
Ayushmann did serious theatre for five years before he got his Bollywood break.
Ayushmann majored in English literature and has a master’s degree in Mass Communication from School of Communication Studies, Panjab University.
Ayushmann knows to play rhe guitar, and has performed in many stage shows during his teenage years.
Ayushmann used to sing in trains and collect money during college days.
Ayushmann conceived and acted in street plays and won prizes in national college festivals such as Mood Indigo (IIT Bombay), OASIS (Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani) and St. Bedes

Ayushmann came into the public view for the first time in 2002 as a participant in the reality show PopStars on MTv.
After his post graduation in Journalism, he got his first job as a RJ, at BIG FM, Delhi. He hosted a show called Big Chai – Maan Na Maan, Main Tera Ayushmann.
Ayushmann, who played a sperm donor in his debut film, actually donated his sperms when he was 20. He had revealed in an interview that it was in 2004, when he was part of the reality show, Roadies.
Ayushmann won the second season of reality television show MTV Roadies in 2004, which got him his breakthrough as an anchor.
MTV, soon afterwards, came up with a fresh crop of anchors for its new morning show called MTV Wassup with Ayushmann being one of the anchors and he was a revelation!
Ayushmann then became a VJ with Pepsi MTV Wassup. He then went on to host ‘The Voice of Youngistaana’ and a season of ‘Rock On It’ - a show for providing information to the youth - on MTV.
Soon, he was TV's most celebrated host with shows like India's Got Talent, Music Ka Maha Muqqabla, Extra Innings for Indian Premier League 3 and Just Dance, to his credit.
Ayushmann received the Young Achievers Award in 2007. He was also the youngest recipient of the Bharat Nirman Award in New Delhi.
Auushmann also made his singing debut in his debut, Vicky Donor. He wrote the song, Pani Da Rang, in front of the producers and sang it instantly, which, apparently, floored the makers.
Ayushmann is also a prolific writer and has penned the lyrics for a lot of songs that he has sung, including Yahin Hoon Main, Mitti Di Khushboo and Saadi Gali Aaja.
He even ryns a personal blog (www.ayushmannkhurrana.blogspot.com), where he writes in Hindi. His writings have been receiving widespread online appreciation.
Ayushmann got married to his childhood friend, Tahira Kashyap, in 2012. Both of us apparently attended the same Physics tuition class in Chandigarh, when they were in the 12th standard.
Ayushmann and Tahira have 2 kids together. Virajveer, his son who was born in 2012 and Varushka, his daughter, was born in 2014.
Ayushmann's 2013 movie with Bhumi Pednekar, ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, received the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
Ayushmann rhad released his autobiography, titled ‘Cracking The CODE – My Journey To Bollywood’ in 2015. It was co-written by his wife Tahira Kashyap.
Ayushmann is a big fan of Shahrukh Khan. He used to hang posters of the DDLJ star in his room, and idolized him for long.
Ayushmann, once got candid in an interview, and described a funny incident right after VIcky Donor, where he was in a mall with his mother, and a female fan came up to him and asked for his sperms .
Ayushmann had revealed in an interview that he had approached Karan Johar during his VJ days for an acting chance. But apparently, he was told that the director-producer only works with stars.
Ayushmann received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his performance in Vicky Donor, a John Abraham production
Tahira Kashyap, Ayushmann's wife, has directed an award-winning short film, Toffee.
