The 2nd instalment in the Enthiran franchise, 2.0 (2018), a standalone sequel to Enthiran, featuring Rajinikanth, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson, crossed 520 crore in its opening weekend.
With a overall worldwide gross of 800 crores, 2.0 is is the second highest-grossing film in India (after Baahubali 2) and is the fifth highest-grossing Indian film worldwide.

Released on the Diwali day of 2018, Vijay-starrer Sarkar, directed by AR Murugadoss crossed the 200-crore mark in 8 days.
Sarkar's overall gross was 260 crores worldwide.
Karthik Subbaraj's Petta Petta was released on 600 screens in Tamil Nadu for Pongal 2019 with tough competition from Viswasam. On its opening day, the film grossed 36 crores worldwide.
Petta entered the 200 crore club in its 23rd day.
2013's most controversial thriller Vishwaroopam collected 220 crores worldwide. Besides acting in the film, Kamal Haasan also wrote and directed the movie.
