Three years after Naga Chaitanya's Prime Video series Dhootha concluded its first season, a fresh chapter has begun as the actor announced production on the sequel on Friday. While the horror-thriller series marked his OTT debut, the Dhootha 2 will see him taking over production duties for the first time.
Taking to his social media handles, Naga Chaitanya wrote, "Auspicious beginnings as I step into the second chapter of Dhootha and my first step as a producer. Onwards and upwards. Here's to the magic ahead." Besides the Thandel actor, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Parvathy Thiruvothu are set to reprise their roles in the sequel as Priya Avudhuri and DCP Kranthi Shenoy.
Directed by Vikram Kumar, Dhootha (2023) revolved around journalist Sagar (Naga Chaitanya) whose life turns upside down when newspapers predict chilling incidents that unfold in his life. He becomes a murder suspect, racing against time to clear his name and solve the enigma, facing dangerous twists. The series also starred Prachi Desai, Gnaneswari Kandregula, Anish Kuruvilla, Tharun Bhascker, Rohini, Tanikella Bharani and Pasupathy in primary roles. The series was well-received and earned positive reviews from audiences and critics.
While the series was renewed by Prime Video for a second season, the sequel has gone on floors only now. While Vikram Kumar returns to direct, other members of the cast are yet to be announced. Plot details have also been kept under wraps.
