Siren's Kiss, starring Squid Game's Wi Hajun, gets release date
The other day, Prime Video announced that Siren's Kiss, starring Park Minyoung and Wi Hajun in the lead roles, will release on the streaming platform on March 02 this year. Described as a "romance thriller" where the stakes are high, the series is directed by Kim Cheolgyu, known for titles such as Mother, Flower of Evil, Chicago Typewriter, and Celebrity.
According to the official logline, the plot follows Wi Hajun's investigator Cha Wooseok who looks into an insurance fraud scheme that is associated with certain mysterious deaths. The investigation leads Wooseok to get entangled with Park Minyoung's character Han Seol-ah, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the crimes. The deeper Wooseok delves into the secrets in Seol-ah's life, he gets more and more involved in a game of attraction that is likely to contribute to his death. An excerpt from the official description reads thus: "Is Seol-ah truly a modern-day “siren,” luring men to their deaths with her beauty and charm?"
According to Prime Video, the series offers "a dangerously seductive game of cat and mouse where every clue leads deeper into obsession, and trust could be fatal."
A beautiful and provocative auctioneer, the character of Han Seol-ah follows Park Minyoung's acclaimed role in Marry My Husband. On the other hand, the role of Cha Wooseok comes after Wi Hajun's appreciated performances in Squid Game and The Midnight Romance in Hagwon. "Known for his razor-sharp instincts and exceptional insight, Wooseok has held the industry’s top arrest record for life-insurance fraud for years," reads an excerpt from the official description.
According to the makers, the series is sure to add to Cheolgyu's visually rich and psychologically deep storytelling that has garnered critical appreciation for the director. It promises to follow the filmmaker's exploration of morally complex characters and atmospheric storytelling.
