After a long gap, Elle Fanning's Predator: Badlands is heading to streaming. OTT platform Hulu has announced that the sci-fi fantasy adventure film will be released online on February 12, along with Disney+. In India, the film is expected to drop on JioHotstar on the same day.
Fanning stars as Thia in the film, with Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as the Predator. Predator: Badlands is set on a remote planet in the future, which follows a young Predator who teams up with Thia, an android, to go on a journey to find an enemy that poses a huge threat.
Predator: Badlands was written and directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who returned to the franchise after Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers. It is written by Patrick Aison from a story by Trachtenberg and Aison. Trachtenberg also served as the producer along with John Davis, Brent O'Connor, Ben Rosenblatt, and Marc Toberoff. 20th Century Studios had backed the film.
Upon release in November, the film was met with positive reviews from critics and audiences, and grossed over $184 million worldwide.
Our CE review of the film read, "When an action film is this slick, you also need some humour, twists and turns to surprise you just enough and make the journey palatable. While Predator: Badlands has some humour and is not that bad purely as a piece of spectacle, it also does not quite land on its feet in terms of the twists department."
The film series started with 1987's Predator, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead as Dutch as he and his team track the eponymous creature. The franchise has also had crossovers with the Alien franchise in the films Alien vs Predator (2004) and Alien vs Predator: Requiem (2007). Predator: Badlands was the seventh installment in the Predator franchise.
