Peacock has cancelled The Copenhagen Test after the first season. The espionage thriller, headlined by Simu Liu, released on the streamer (JioHotstar in India) in December last year and was met with mostly positive reviews. However, the series did not find a large audience on the streamer and failed to reach the top 10 position in the subsequent weeks after it was released.
The first season followed first-generation Chinese-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale, who realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears. Caught between his shadowy agency and the unknown hackers, he is forced maintain a performance 24/7 to flush out who’s responsible and prove where his allegiance lies. Melissa Barrera plays his "girlfriend" who keeps an eye on him and reports to the headquarters.
Sinclair Daniel, Brian d’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien and Kathleen Chalfant also played key roles in the series.
Created, written and executive produced by Thomas Brandon, The Copenhagen Test had Jennifer Yale as the showrunner. The project was also backed by executive producers Liu, James Wan, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, and Mark Winemaker. Mark Winemaker and Jet Wilkinson also executive produced.
