A few days ago, we had reported about Netflix setting a release date for Toaster, its upcoming crime-comedy starring Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles. On Saturday, the streamer released the official trailer of the film.
In Toaster, Rajkummar Rao plays Ramakant, a high-strung penny-pincher if there ever was one. Devoted to and obsessed with saving every rupee possible, Ramakant finds his life in doldrums when a wedding, where he generously gifted a toaster, gets called off and all gifts are given to charity. Hellbent on not letting his money go to waste, Ramakant decides to get his gift back.
However, a simple search mission for his wedding gift takes Ramakant deep into unexpected trenches of his surroundings, getting him entangled into a web of crime and law and everything in between. Ramakant is helped in his desperate mission, nonetheless, by his patient wife (Sanya Malhotra), as the two decide to unravel the mystery of why everyone is searching for that one toaster.
The trailer also draws your attention for promising to showcase Archana Puran Singh in a distinctive avatar and bringing back Farah Khan on screen after more than a decade.
Directed by Vivek Daschaudry and produced by Patralekha, Toaster also features Abhishek Banarjee, Seema Pahwa, and Upendra Limaye in key roles. The writing team includes Parveez Sheikh, Akshat Ghildial and Anagh Mukherjee. In the technical team, Jishnu Bhattacharjee is the cinematographer and Chandrasekhar Prajapati is the editor.
Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra had previously worked together in Hit: The First Case (2022), which failed to make a mark at the box office.
