Over a year after its original release, A Quiet Place: Day One has finally locked its OTT release date. The apocalyptic horror film, written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, is coming to Netflix on November 14.

Headlined by Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn, the film is a spin-off of the original that was released in 2018. The events in A Quiet Place: Day One take place before the first film where Nyong'o plays Sam, a terminally ill patient who must survive an alien invasion. Djimon Hounsou reprises his role from A Quiet Place Part II.

Upon release on June 29 last year, the film received critically acclaimed reviews from audiences and critics. Our CE review of the film read, "Lupita Nyong'o packs a punch at every single moment in the film. When she stops for a moment, her eyes do the talking. They become partners, moving through abandoned buildings, finding tiny pockets of happiness in a misery-filled world to show that certain people and animals are worth living for."

Paramount pushes A Quiet Place Part III release by three weeks

Michael Sarnoski, who has previously helmed Nicolas Cage starrer Pig (2021), wrote A Quiet Place: Day One based on the idea of John Krasinski, who wrote and directed the first two films in the franchise.

The film was backed by Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller through Platinum Dunes, along with John under his production banner Sunday Night.

Meanwhile, A Quiet Place Part III is under development from Paramount which is once again being helmed by Krasinski. While the story and cast details are under wraps for now, the film is set for a release on July 30, 2027.

The A Quiet Place series has proven to be one of Paramount’s strongest franchises, having earned more than $900 million worldwide across three films.
