Khalid Rahman-Naslen's Alappuzha Gymkhana gets OTT release date

After a successful run in theatres, audiences can now watch the game of Alappuzha Gymkhana on OTT soon. The heartwarming sports comedy, starring Naslen and directed by Khalid Rahman, is set to stream on OTT platform Sony LIV from June 13.

Upon release on April 10, the film received positive reviews from audience and critics. Our CE review of the film read, "Alappuzha Gymkhana doesn’t come out swinging with dramatic twists or over-the-top emotion. It keeps things light, fun, and heartfelt. It may not reinvent the sports genre, but it's full of warmth and sincerity."

The story follows Jojo Johnson (Naslen), a laidback college student who signs up for boxing, not out of passion, but to sneak into college through the sports quota. But things take a sharp turn when he and his equally clueless friends meet with their tough-as-nails coach Antony Joshua (Lukman Avaran), who’s all about grit, grind, and real punches. What begins as a shortcut quickly turns into a journey of sweat, self-discovery, and spirited camaraderie.

Alappuzha Gymkhana is jointly scripted by Khalid and Sreeni Saseendran, with dialogues penned by Ishq-fame Ratheesh Ravi. Alongside Naslen, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Lukman Avaran, Ganapathi, Falimy actor Sandeep Pradeep, Anagha Ravi, Kottayam Nazeer, Franco Francis, rapper Baby Jean, Shiva Hariharan, Shon Joy, Karthik, Nanda Nishant and Noila Francy.

On the technical front, it reunites cinematographer Jimshi Khalid, the late editor Nishadh Yusuf, and composer Vishnu Vijay, the trio behind Khalid's 2022 blockbuster Thallumaala.
