OTT platform ZEE5 has announced that their upcoming web series Once Upon A Time in Kayamkulam has begun filming. The bilingual original series, which will be released in Tamil and Malayalam is being directed by Ameen Barif.
Described as a "grounded heist comedy with a strong regional flavour", Once Upon A Time in Kayamkulam is set to "blend humour, clever twists, and contemporary storytelling" for its OTT audiences. Filming began with a traditional pooja ceremony in front of a local deity.
The ensemble cast features a bunch of newcomers Anbuselvan, Subhas, Ramesh Madhavan, Vinsu Rachel, Rakesh Ushar, Gouthami Nair, Savithri, Vijay Sathya, Arun, and Vigneswar.
While plot details have been kept under wraps, the series is expected to be released after the new year 2026.
