
After earning laurels for its portrayal of human emotions, especially pubescent teenagers, Inside Out 2 is finally hitting OTT platform Disney+ on September 25. The film can be streamed in Disney+ Hotstar in India.
The film breached the $1 billion mark in global earnings within weeks of its release and now stands at a worldwide gross of more than $1.5 billion. It broke multiple box-office records, including becoming the highest-grossing Pixar film and animated film of all time. It also became the highest-grossing film of 2024 and the eight highest-grossing film of all-time.
Released on June 14, the Kelsey Mann directorial follows Riley, now a teenager, as she faces new emotional challenges, with her core emotions struggling to adapt to the arrival of Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Envy (Ayo Edebiri), Nostalgia (June Squibb), Ennui (Adèle Exarchopoulos) and Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser), leading to a battle for control over her mind and sense of self. Meanwhile, the old Emotions Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), and Anger (Lewis Black) try to help Riley.
Kensington Tallman had replaced Kaitlyn Dias to voice Riley, while Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan have returned to voice her parents.
The supporting voice cast of Inside Out 2 also includes Sarayu Blue, Flea, Ron Funches, Dave Goelz, James Austin Johnson, Bobby Moynihan, Frank Oz, Paula Pell, Paula Poundstone, John Ratzenberger, Kendall Coyne Schofield, Kirk Thatcher and Yong Yea.
The film earned rave reviews from critics as well as audience for its heartwarming and relatable storyline which follows Riley, who is now a teenager, struggling to deal with multiple emotions upon entering puberty.
