It was earlier reported that James Spader, known for playing the eponymous antagonist Ultron in the 2015 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Avengers: Age of Ultron, will return to the MCU through a spinoff to the series WandaVision. Todd Stashwick, known for the series Star Trek: Picard, joins Spader and Paul Bettany in the confirmed cast, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Bettany, who played the role of Vision in the MCU films and WandaVision, will reprise his role in the series, which is set to revolve around his character. The series will be part of a mini-trilogy within the MCU, along with WandaVIsion and Agatha All Along. Even though the character of Vision was killed by Thanos in the 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War, he returned in WandaVision through magic.
Further details about the show are under wraps. Terry Matalas runs the show, which is yet to have a title and is eyeing a 2025 production. The spinoff show has been in the works since 2022. Back then, reports said that it would revolve around Bettany's character as he tries to gain back his sense of humanity and memory, with the prospect of Elizabeth Olsen returning as Wanda Maximoff.
