Netflix released the trailer for its upcoming film Joy, which is scheduled to hit the streaming platform on November 22. The film follows a visionary scientist and a surgoen, who work together in the 1960s and 1970s to develop the concept of in vitro fertilisation.

Bill Nighty plays Patrick Steptoe, a pioneer of fertility treatment, while Thomasin McKenzie plays Jean Purdy, a nurse and embryologist. James Norton stars as Robert Edwards, a physiologist and pioneer in reproductive medicine. Ben Taylor directs the film, which has a screenplay by Jack Thorne. The film is produced by Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey for Wildgaze.

The trailer goes on to show the struggles that the duo faced, including opposition from the public. The first person to be born through the process, or the first 'test tube baby,' was Louise Joy Brown, who was born on 25 July 1978.
