On Friday, Prime Video announced that the sequel to their 2023 rom-com, Red, White and Royal Blue, is in development. The original film stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez in lead roles, and is helmed by Matthew López.

Red, White and Royal Blue is an adaptation of Casey McQuiston's bestselling novel of the same name. The film features Galitzine as Prince Henry, a British prince, the spare to the British throne, and Perez as Alex Claremont-Diaz, the first son of the United States, who fall in love with each other. The film ends with Alex and Henry in a relationship, fighting all the odds that could separate them.

While Galitzine and Perez are expected to reprise their roles, it is still unclear if the rest of the cast will also return. Uma Thurman essayed President Ellen Claremont, Alex's mother in the original film, which also features, Stephen Fry, Rachel Hilson, Sarah Shahi, Clifton Collins Jr., Aneesh Sheth, Polo Morin, Ellie Bamber, Ahmed Elhaj, Akshay Khanna, Sharon D Clarke, Thomas Flynn, and Malcolm Atobrah.

Red, White and Royal Blue was also penned by López along with Ted Malawer. López will return as writer and director, working along with McQuinston. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Schechter Films will return to produce the film, along with Michael McGrath, as well as López, while McQuinston will executive produce. More details regarding the sequel's plot are yet to be announced.
