Disney’s latest animated series, Wish, finally has a release date on Disney+ Hostar after months of waiting. The film will be out on the OTT platform on April 3.
Billed as a musical comedy, the story of Wish is set in the magical kingdom of Rosas. The official description of the film read, "Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen."
The film's cast includes Ariana DeBose, who voices 17-year-old heroine Asha; Chris Pine, who lends his voice to King Magnifico; Alan Tudyk, who provides the voice of Asha's pet goat, Valentino; Angelique Cabral as Queen Amaya; Victor Garber as Asha's grandfather, Sabino; and Natasha Rothwell as Asha's mom, Sakina.
The rest of the voice cast comprises Jennifer Kumiyama, Evan Peters, Harvey Guillén as Gabo, Ramy Youssef, Niko Vargas, Della Saba, and Jon Rudnitsky.
Wish, which hit theatres in November last year, opened to mixed reviews from audience and critics.
It was directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn (in her feature directorial debut) from a screenplay by Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore, based on a story conceived by Lee, Buck, Veerasunthorn, and Moore, and produced by Peter Del Vecho and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones, with Lee and Don Hall serving as executive producers.
