The official trailer for Supacell, an upcoming drama television series, was unveiled by Netflix on Wednesday. The series stars Tosin Cole and Adelayo Adedayo in lead roles. Rapman serves as showrunner, creator, writer and lead director on the project.
The trailer shows Cole's Michael and Adedayo's Dionne finally settling down, planning to get married, when Michael suddenly develops superpowers. He is teleported to the future, only to find Dionne's grave. He then joins with other 'Supacells' to save Dionne, and also the world.
Supacell revolves around a group of seemingly ordinary black people from South London who unexpectedly develop superpowers. Yasmin Monet Prince, Eddie Marsan, Nadine Mills, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, and Calvin Demba round out the supporting cast of the series.
Out of the six episodes in Supacell, Sebastian Thiel has directed three episodes. Joanna Crow and Mark Hedges are producing the series under the New Wave Energy banner. Anna Ferguson, Steve Searle, and Mouktar Mohammed serve as executive producers.
Supacell will drop on Netflix on June 27.
