
Actors Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson are in talks to star in Kathryn Bigelow's upcoming film for Netflix.
Deadline confirmed the news about the film whose lead actors are yet to be confirmed. The plot details as well as Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson's characters have not been revealed by the makers.
However, reports suggest that the plot is set to centre at the White House as a national crisis unfolds.
This Netflix project marks Bigelow's return to feature films after her 2017 thriller Detroit, which was a notable awards contender produced and distributed by Annapurna Pictures. The film starred John Boyega, Will Poulter and Kaitlyn Dever, among others. She is best known for directing Zero Dark Thirty (2012) and The Hurt Locker (2008).
Idris Elba is currently starring in the second season of Apple TV+ thriller series Hijack. He was also recently seen in Paramount+’s Sonic the Hedgehog miniseries Knuckles, as well as in films - Extraction II and Luther: The Fallen Sun. In his upcoming slate of films, he has the action thriller Heads of State with Carla Gugino and Jack Quaid, which also stars Priyanka Chopra in a prominent role. Elba also has the third installment of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Ferguson, who stars in Apple’s popular sci-fi series Silo season 2, is also known for playing a key role in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 2. She was also seen starring opposite Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Up next, she will be seen in Amazon’s sci-fi film Mercy co-starring Chris Pratt.
