
Netflix has officially released the trailer of the upcoming web series Tokyo Swindlers. Based on Ko Shinjo's novel of the same name, the seven-episode crime thriller series is directed by Hitoshi One, whose previous drama series Elpis received critical acclaim.
The two-minute-long trailer shows how a group of land swindlers have evaded the eyes of police for a long time and have swindled two billion yen from a real estate company. The group is led by led by Harrison Yamanaka (Etsushi Toyokawa) and they execute their scheme by fabricating documents and recruiting imposters to pose as landowners. As they lay their eyes on the biggest target yet - a 10-billion-yen plot of land, the team goes to great extents to grab it without getting caught.
According to the official logline, Tokyo Swindlers "unveils a never-before-seen world of land swindlers who have their eyes set on a 10 billion yen haul. These con artists make precarious fraudulent deals as an investigation bears down on them — but can they pull off their lucrative scheme?"
The series stars Go Ayano, Etsushi Toyokawa, Kazuki Kitamura, Eiko Koike, Pierre Taki, Shota Sometani,
Izumi Matsuoka, Kaito Yoshimura, Anthony, Satoru Matsuo, Taro Suruga, Makita Sports, Elaiza Ikeda, Lily Franky and Koji Yamamoto.
The series has music by Takkyu Ishino, cinematography by Shoichi Ato and Shigeki Morishita, and editing by Yasuyuki Ozeki.
Tokyo Swindlers releases on Netflix on July 25.
