Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones' latest outing, Twisters, is all set to premiere on Jio Cinema on December 18. The film, directed by Lee Isaac Chung of Minari fame, is described by the makers as a current-day chapter of the 1996 blockbuster Twister. It also stars Anthony Ramos in the lead role and follows the leads as they attempt to foretell and deal with tornadoes.
Edgar-Jones plays Kate Carter, an erstwhile storm chaser who observes storm patterns from indoors in NYC. Ramos plays Carter's friend, who brings her back outdoors to test an innovative tracking system. Powell's character, meanwhile, is a social media sensation who loves to shoot him chasing storms with his team. Also part of the cast are Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, Harry Hadden-Paton, David Corenswet, Daryl McCormack, Tunde Adebimpe, Katy O’Brian, Nik Dodani, Kiernan Shipka, and Paul Scheer.
Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are the producers of the film. Mark L Smith of The Revenant fame wrote it from a Joseph Kosinski story, based on Michael Crichton and Anne Marie Crichton's characters. Steven Spielberg, Ashley Jay Sandberg, and Thomas Hayslip are the executive producers.
Twisters hit theatres on July 19 and opened to positive reviews.
