Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming documentary film titled Apollo 13: Survival that explores what transpired on Apollo 13 in the spring of 1970. The film releases on September 5.
NASA's biggest crisis occurred just nine months after Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon: three astronauts were left on a spaceship that had experienced a catastrophic explosion halfway to the moon. The gripping tale of Apollo 13 and the mission to return its crew safely is told in this documentary, which uses archival footage and interviews.
Earlier, in 1995, director Ron Howard made a film on the same story starring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton and Gary Sinise, among others. The docudrama film was an adaptation of the 1994 book Lost Moon: The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13, by astronaut Jim Lovell and Jeffrey Kluger.
