Streamer Netflix will make a crime series based on the Norwegian author Nesbø's novels, titled Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole, directed by Anna Zackrisson.
The makers have announced the star cast, consisting of 28 actors, including Peter Stormare, Andres Baasmo, Ellen Helinder, Simon Berger, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal and Kelly Gale. The series will be led by Tobias Santelmann, Joel Kinnaman and Pia Tjelta in prominent roles.
The whodunnit serial killer mystery is led by famed anti-hero Harry Hole, a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. Underneath the surface, Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole is a nuanced character drama about two police officers — and supposed colleagues — operating on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the first season, Harry goes head-to-head with his longtime adversary, the corrupt Detective Tom Waaler, as the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system. But only time will tell whether Harry can catch the serial killer while also bringing Tom to justice before it’s too late.
Apart from the other cast members, the series also includes Kare Conradi, Fridtjov Saheim, Atle Antonson, Manish Sharma, Eili Harboe, Henriette Streenstrup, Jesper Christensen, Kristoffer Joner, Linn Skaber, Jonas Strand Gravli, Sonny Lindberg, Agnes Kittelsen, Nader Khademi, Agot Sendstad, Maja Christiansen, Frank Kjosas, Oddgeir Thune, Henrik Mestad, Ingar Helge Gimle, Helge Jordal, Eirik Hallbert, and Ravdeep Singh Bajwa.
Created and written by Nesbø, the show's other director is Øystein Karlsen.
The series, which will debut on Netflix in 2026, is produced by Tor Arne Øvrebø from Working Title Television and Universal International Studios, while Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Katy Rozelle, Rene Ezra, Øystein Karlsen, Nesbø, and Niclas Salomonsson serve as the executive producers.
