The makers of Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD officially announced the streaming release date for their film on Saturday. The sci-fi spectacle, which also starred Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in prominent roles, will begin streaming on Thursday, August 22. While the Hindi version will release on Netflix, the other language versions (Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada) will stream on Prime Video.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD was set in a post-apocalyptic universe of Kashi, the once-divine city that had now been reduced to a barren wasteland. Prabhas played a bounty-hunter named Bhairava in the film who has to fight the immortal warrior Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan) in order to capture Sumati, not realising that he has a much bigger role to play in the larger scheme of things, and is destined to change the course of history forever.
Speaking about the Hindi release, director Nag Ashwin stated, "Bringing Kalki 2898 AD to Netflix allows us to share this story with a global audience. It’s a film that delves deep into the themes of hope, destiny, and the eternal struggle between good and evil. We’re excited for viewers to experience this epic journey.”
Kalki 2898 AD was produced by C Ashwini Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies.
