John Mulaney's livestream comedy special gets a release date

John Mulaney has returned to Netflix with a six-episode special John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's In L.A. The show is all set to stream live during Netflix Is a Joke Fest, the comedy event featuring A-list comics in Los Angeles.

According to the logline, the show follows Mulaney as he “explores the city of Los Angeles during a week when every funny person is in it.” The first episode debuts on May 3 at 7 p.m., with new installments airing nightly May 6-10.

The teaser, which was released by the streaming platform showed many people in the city taking turns to describe the show.

Mulaney will serve as host, co-showrunner and executive producer through his Multiple Camera Productions, while Ashley Edens is credited as his co-showrunner and EP and Dave Ferguson is head writer.

His previous specials include John Mulaney: Baby J (2023), The Comeback Kid (2015) and Kid Gorgeous (2018). He also delivered a similarly unconventional, children’s musical comedy variety special, titled John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch, during that window. The former Saturday Night Live writer has dabbled on Broadway, too, with his co-creation Oh, Hello, which was also released on Netflix.
