Sushmita Sen opens up on her eight-year hiatus, reveals how Aarya happened

Actor Sushmita Sen opened up on her eight-year hiatus and shared how she was impressed by the content on the OTT platforms, adding how Aarya actually happened.

For eight years, Sushmita explored different acting opportunities, hoping to find the perfect fit. None felt right until Aarya came along.

Elaborating on this, Sushmita said: "I was in an eight-year hiatus, sitting there and thinking, 'I don't like this, I do not like that. By default of knowing what you do not want, what I do want was being created, and that is where the manifestation comes in.”

“I did not realise that the OTT space was creating content the way it is now. I had the initial taste of it very close to when I did Aarya. Until then, I was like, 'the big screen, I will only work on the big screen,' and then this happened. I was sitting there thinking, if they are making content like this, this is what I want,” she shared.

Earlier, opening up about returning to the sets of the show, she said, "I didn't think shooting action sequences just one month after my heart attack was possible but the trust I had in my team was enough," said.

Sushmita added: "My confidence in returning to the set stemmed from knowing I had the necessary support anytime I needed it - whether it was people or even medical support - we had a complete hospital setup, doctors, an ambulance, and everything ready as we resumed shooting."

She also revealed that the web series is still not her best work and has a lot more to come and offer to the audience.

Aarya 3 is the third part of the popular action-thriller franchise headlined by Sen. The first season of Aarya premiered in 2020. The first season was nominated for the ‘Best Drama’ series at the International Emmy Awards. The second part was dropped in 2021.

The show was created by Ram Madhvani and Sandeep Modi. It stars Namit Das, Manish Chaudhari, Sikandar Kher, and Vinod Rawat among others in pivotal roles.

The third season of Aarya is streaming on OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar.
