Production has commenced on Operation Ganga, directed by Vishnu Mohan and starring Mohanlal in the lead role. The film is inspired by the government's mission to rescue Indian citizens stranded in not just Ukraine but also the nations around it during the 2022 Russian invasion. Produced by Gokulam Gopalan under his Sree Gokulam Movies banner, the film also has actors from other industries, such as Arjun Rampal, to name one.
On Wednesday, Arjun dropped some stills featuring him with Mohanlal on social media and spoke about his experience working with the legendary actor. "Such an honour to have the privilege to share screen space with you Sir. It has been inspirational. The supremely talented and gifted Mohanlal. Thank you," Arjun wrote.
Operation Ganga marks Arjun Rampal's debut in Malayalam cinema and his maiden collaboration with Mohanlal for a film. Arjun is fresh from his critically appreciated role as an ISI operative in the Dhurandhar franchise, opposite Ranveer Singh. His film Satluj, where he plays a CBI officer, also had a brief release on ZEE5 recently after a long delay before it was taken out of the streamer.
Coming back to Operation Ganga, the film brings Arjun back together with his Dhurandhar composer Shashwat Sachdev and stunt choreographer Sea Young Oh. The makers of the film are yet to reveal the specifics of the actor's role in the film; traditionally, he is known for his formidable villain and antagonist characters in Hindi cinema. It also marks the Malayalam debut of actor Bhagyashri Borse, who is known for roles in films such as Kaantha and Lenin. Actor Parthiban, who appeared in a cameo role as a former military officer in the recently released Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar, is also part of the cast.
