Actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan has urged social media users to stop mistaking a parody account for his official X profile, saying the account has been causing “unnecessary confusion and negativity” by posting in his name.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, the Lucky Baskhar actor addressed an account operating under the handle @_dulQuer and clarified that it was not his real account. “Kindly requesting everyone to stop believing @_dulQuer to be my real account,” Dulquer wrote. He pointed out that the account “claims to be a ‘parody account’” and said it had been using the premise to impersonate him while interacting with people online.
“This account claims to be a ‘parody account’ and therefore feels it’s amusing to pretend to be me and comment as me on everything,” he said. According to Dulquer, the account has been posting about films and other actors while presenting its comments as though they were coming from him.
He also highlighted instances where the account allegedly interacted with his family members, including his father and veteran actor Mammootty. “Whether it’s writing about movies or about other actors to even writing fake wishes to my own family members,” the actor said, adding that the activity was “causing unnecessary confusion and negativity.”
Dulquer further said that he had already taken steps to report the account and had lodged an official complaint with X. “I’ve already reported this account and filed an official complaint but still awaiting a response from @X,” he wrote.
The actor’s post was accompanied by a direct request to users to be cautious about the account and not treat its posts as statements made by him. His clarification comes amid the increasing presence of parody and impersonation accounts on social media.
Dulquer was last seen in I’m Game, directed by RDX-fame Nahas Hidhayath, which marked his return to Malayalam cinema after a three-year gap as a lead actor. He will next be seen in Pavan Sadineni’s Telugu romantic drama Aakasamlo Oka Tara, which also stars debutant Satvika Veeravalli and is scheduled to hit theatres on November 20. Dulquer also has Sri Sri in Telugu, directed by debutant Ravi Nelakuditi and co-starring Pooja Hegde, in his upcoming lineup.
