Recently, we reported about director Priyadarshan's Thenmavin Kombathu, starring Mohanlal and Shobana, being set to hit theatres again on October 01 in an enhanced 4K Dolby Atmos format. Prasad Corporation and Matinee Now are behind the 4K restoration work for the film.
One of the most iconic films in the history of Malayalam cinema, Priyadarshan's comedy entertainer won two recognitions at the National Film Awards: Best Cinematography for KV Anand and Best Production Design for Sabu Cyril. Recently, KV Anand's daughter Sadhana requested the audience to watch the film when it releases again in October.
In a video, she can be seen saying, "October 1st, Thenmavin Kombathu is releasing in theatres worldwide. This film is special for everyone, but it is extra special for us, because it is my father's debut film and it also won the National Award. We are extremely excited to watch it on the big screen."
Interestingly, the upcoming Thenmavin Kombathu rerelease presents Sadhana with an opportunity to watch the popular film for the first time ever at a theatre. Speaking about it, she added, "I have not seen the movie on the big screen yet. As a family, it is a very special moment for us to see his name on screens, and we are excited."
She also expressed her desire to watch Mohanlal and Shobana's acting and Priyadarshan's direction for the first time in theatres. "Hope you are all excited as me. Do catch it on big screens," she added.
Thenmavin Kombathu originally hit theatres in 1994 and went on to become that year's highest-grossing film in Malayalam. It even outperformed Mohanlal's own Pingami, which hit theatres around the same time, despite the Sathyan Anthikkad directorial venture earning positive feedback from audiences. The film also has a remake in Tamil that is titled Muthu, starring Rajinikanth and Meena in the lead roles.
