Saiju Kurup is headlining a new detective comedy, which began production on Monday following a traditional pooja ceremony in Kochi. The story revolves around Saiju’s private detective Chandikunju investigating a case, with the makers describing the project as a comedy thriller. It is written and directed by Sagar, who previously helmed films such as Kanakarajyam and Veekam.

The new film also stars Saikumar, Althaf Salim, Harishree Ashokan, Sudheesh, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Madhupal, musician Shaan Rahman, Rajesh Sharma, Shaju Sreedhar, Akhil, Shameer Khan, Riyaa Jithu, Vincy Aloshious, Alphy Panjikaran, Utthara Unni, Sreerekha and Dhyan Sreenivasan in prominent roles. On the technical front, it has cinematography by Saneesh Stanley, editing by Ratheesh Raj and music by Sanal Dev.

The project marks the second production venture of filmmaker-turned-producer Arun Gopy, following the upcoming Arjun Ashokan-starrer Melcow Pondicherry. Arun is producing the yet-to-be-titled film under his namesake banner, in association with Justin Mathew Entertainment.

Saiju, fresh from the success of Mohiniyattam, will be next seen headlining Aaram, an investigative thriller. Rajesh Parameswaran directs the film, slated for release on September 25. The actor's upcoming lineup as a lead includes Rajesh Nair’s Harivarasanam, PS Arjun’s Saakshikal, and Rasaleela — the third instalment in the Bharathanatyam franchise directed by Krishnadas Murali.

Saiju will also be seen in a prominent supporting role in Aamir Pallikkal’s Prempaatta.
