Director Nelson's Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role, opened in theatres on Thursday to much fanfare. Many of the audience members expect it to be another major blockbuster for the Superstar. Meanwhile, a section of the audience has expressed some disappointment over the exclusion of certain scenes featuring Mohanlal from the final version of the film. According to them, the film does not have the Mohanlal moment featured in the Jailer 2 trailer, and his role in it is more limited than it should have been.
Now, Jishad Shamsudeen, who served as the personal fashion stylist and costume designer for Mohanlal in the Jailer sequel, has joined the audince in expressing his disappointment over the actor's limited presence in the film.
Taking to Instagram, Jishad wrote, "With the release of Jailer 2, I want to share an important update !! Based on what was shot, I was completely confident in our work-even when reduced to a 2-second glimpse in the trailer. But with the film’s release, three of Mohanlal Sir’s distinct looks were cut entirely, and even that trailer scene was trimmed out."
The stylist and designer added, "From my experience in cinema, trimming scenes involving a superstar like Mohanlal Sir is simply unnecessary.
Seeing our superstar reduced like this, if there is a Sequel, I will not be a part of it. I am truly sorry to everyone who trusted me."
Reiterating about where his loyalties lie, Jishad further wrote, "I don’t stand for favors, profits, crore clubs, or stardom. I stand solely for the fans, lovers of the craft, and Mohanlal Sir. Thank you for always standing by my journey."
Several fans echoed Jishad's sentiment regarding the sequel to Jailer in the comments section of his post. These reactions signify the heightened expectations from fans regarding the second part to 2023's Jailer. In contrast, when the first part came out in 2023, it delighted many, including Mohanlal fans, for the aura and swag he brought to the role, as well as the meta reference the actor's character made to his iconic real-life dialogue, "Entha Mone?"
