The teaser of Roopesh Peethambaran's upcoming directorial Bhaskarabharanam, released on Saturday, promises a dark comedy. It features a casual interaction between three characters — a man's young wife, his son and a servant — trying to plot his murder. While one of them suggests murdering by hitting the head, the woman suggests killing by mental torture. Though the man in question is never shown, the brief teaser is enough to indicate the grudge the three characters hold against him.
The makers define Bhaskarabharanam as a "family comedy-drama that explores the chaos and complexities of a dysfunctional family, narrated through an intense and gripping storytelling style deeply rooted in the essence of Malayalam cinema."
Bhaskara Bharanam marks Roopesh’s return to direction after Dulquer Salmaan's Theevram and You Too Brutus, starring Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Sreenivasan, and Remya Nambessan among others. Roopesh is also known as an actor for his performances in Spadikam and Oru Mexican Aparatha.
Apart from directing and writing, Roopesh plays the lead role in Bhaskara Bharanam. It also stars Ajay Pavithran, Sonika Meenakshi, Mitun M Das and Parvathy Kalarikkal in prominent roles. On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Uma Kumarapuram, music by Arun Thomas, and editing by Rashin Ahmed.
Produced by Arumugam K Gowda and Ruby Peethambaran under the banners of NICAFF and Good Fellas In Films, the film is planned for a June release.
