Veteran Malayalam actors Mammootty and Mohanlal extended their wishes to Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan during public events held in Ernakulam district on Sunday.
Speaking at a reception organised for Satheesan and other ministers from the district, Mammootty reflected on the responsibility that comes with leading a state. Referring to the chief ministerial roles he has portrayed on screen, the Bramayugam actor said, “I have played the role of a CM in two or three films, as the CMs of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Acting lasts only for a short period, and experience makes it easier over time. In reality, it is a role that requires care.”
Highlighting the pressures of governance, Mammootty added, “The CM has to keep all sections of people happy, address people’s problems, listen to everyone, and engage with them. The role also involves leading and guiding ministers.” Wishing Satheesan well, he said, “I wish him all the best so that he can carry out his responsibilities with greater enthusiasm and fairness in the days ahead.”
Later in the day, Mohanlal also expressed support for the chief minister while addressing a gathering in Paravur. Speaking about the public response to Satheesan’s elevation, the Drishyam 3 actor said, “Maybe this was the first time we witnessed people in Kerala strongly backing a person for the chief minister’s position.”
Describing the CM’s leadership qualities, the actor added, “Sincerity and transparency are two qualities evident in Satheesan sir. He is a lucky CM of a blessed state.” Mohanlal also said, “Satheesan, who is a Nehruvian socialist, should also be a dreamer like Nehru. I hope his ideas will help in the growth of the state.”
The events were attended by party workers, supporters and several prominent personalities from Ernakulam district.
