Rapper Vedan, who was arrested last year for allegedly possessing a leopard tooth, has landed in fresh trouble in the same case. Although Vedan was released on bail after the authenticity of the tooth could not initially be confirmed, a recent laboratory examination has now established that the tooth in his pendant was indeed that of a leopard.
Forest officials said the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Perumbavoor, which is hearing the case, had sent the tooth to a central laboratory in Kolkata for scientific verification. With the test report confirming it to be a genuine leopard tooth, the Forest Department is expected to soon submit a prosecution report before the court.
The case dates back to April last year, when Vedan and eight others were arrested from his apartment in Ernakulam in connection with alleged possession of cannabis. During the inspection, officials from the Kodanad Forest Range Office grew suspicious about one of the pendants worn by the rapper and subsequently registered a separate case. Vedan had then claimed that the pendant was a gift from one of his fans.
