Mohanlal has filed a suit at the Delhi High Court seeking personality rights protection. Jyoti Singh, the High Court Justice, is set to hear his suit later today, reports Bar and Bench.

Mohanlal has become the latest addition to a list of celebrities seeking personality rights protection, including actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, and Kamal Haasan. If the court approves his request, he would be able to secure an injunction against the use of his name, photograph, voice and likeness without his consent, especially in merchandise, advertisements, and content made with artificial intelligence.

Mohanlal's suit highlights the existence of a growing risk of AI tools replicating faces, voices and mannerisms with far greater accuracy than ever before.

The risk applies to celebrities as well. Therefore, they seek legal ways to keep their reputation from being harmed in unauthorised ways and prevent people from making money by exploiting their name and/or public image.

On the work front, the actor has multiple projects in various stages of production. The actor's most immediate releases are Drishyam 3 and Patriot. The third part in the Drishyam franchise reunites him with director Jeethu Joseph and co-stars Meena, Esther Anil, Ansiba Hassan, KB Ganesh Kumar, and Murali Gopy. On Monday, the film's producer Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas postponed its release because of the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

On the other hand, director Mahesh Narayanan's film Patriot, also starring Mammootty, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Revathi, and Fahadh Faasil, among others, still remains on course for its April 23 release.
