Aadu 3 trailer
The makers of Aadu 3 released the film's trailer on Sunday, giving fans a first look at the long-awaited third instalment of the popular Malayalam franchise. Directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, this fantasy action-comedy brings back Jayasurya as Shaji Pappan, the unlucky but determined leader of the Winner Club. The trailer hints that Pappan and his gang get into trouble again, this time on a much larger scale.
The three-minute video starts in a different era, featuring Jayasurya as a king who talks about a mysterious weapon thought to hold unknown power. British soldiers call it the Mysore Rocket. The narration suggests that this powerful weapon has been pursued for centuries, causing wars and destruction. The story then shifts to present-day Idukki, where Arakkal Abu calls for “Shajiyettaa,” signalling that another major showdown is coming. The trailer shows that the film moves through various timelines, connecting the ancient weapon to the chaos experienced by Shaji Pappan and his friends.
Saiju Kurup, Vinayakan, Sunny Wayne, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Indrans, and Vijay Babu return to reprise their roles. Familiar characters, such as Saathan Xavier, Abu, Dude, and PP Sasi, appear briefly. The makers have announced that this will be the first part of a two-part series, indicating the story will continue beyond this film. The first part, 2015's Aadu, failed at the box office upon its release, but the film would go on to become a cult favourite among the masses following its DVD release. Its eventual popularity benefited the second part as well, playing a part in making it a massive hit at the box office in 2017. The franchise is known for its over-the-top comedy, something which critics often classify as 'inspired lunacy', featuring one gag after another.
Aadu 3 is set to release worldwide on March 19, where it will find itself in a busy weekend, going up against Geetu Mohandas-Yash's Toxic and Aditya Dhar-Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
